Academy Privacy Policy
Drivers EDU Driving School operates LearnerMiles Academy at academy.learnermiles.com. This policy explains how information is handled through Academy enrollment, coursework, student access and support. This notice covers Academy. The main Drivers Edu website, booking and payment services are described in their separate privacy notices.
Privacy contact: info@driversedu.net · 410-764-1133. Please do not email Social Security numbers, payment-card details or identification images with an initial privacy inquiry.
Information collected and why
- Enrollment and contact information: first and last name, email, phone number, selected program, language preference, enrollment reference, consent record and any referral information you enter. These are used to provide course access, identify your enrollment, communicate with you and administer the program.
- Optional documents: an identification document, MVA notice, court notice or other document you choose to upload, plus its filename and file details. A document may contain sensitive information such as a photograph, date of birth, address or license number. Staff use it to review your enrollment and required verification. Uploading a document is optional at enrollment; required identification and program documents must still be verified before certification. Submit only relevant information.
- Learning and completion records: lessons, slides and readings viewed, activity time, knowledge-check answers and results, completion dates, coursework acknowledgements, instructor verification and completion-reporting status. These support saved progress, program requirements, certification and recordkeeping.
- Student access and administration: enrollment number and email, or email and phone for access recovery; session identifiers; account-status and staff audit records. Where platform sign-in is used, the Academy may receive the signed-in account’s identifier, name and email.
- Support: questions, contact email, selected program, ticket history, staff responses and notification-delivery records. Routine questions may receive an automated answer; staff requests and unresolved questions may be saved for follow-up. Do not put unnecessary sensitive information into support messages.
- Technical and referral information: website requests and security information processed by the hosting service; email- and network-derived identifiers used to limit support abuse; and campaign parameters or a referring-site category used to understand how students find the Academy.
The Academy enrollment form does not collect payment-card information or charge your card. Program payment is handled through Drivers Edu’s separate Wix booking flow when you book the final appointment.
Who receives information
- Authorized school staff and instructors use information relevant to enrollment, instruction, support, verification and completion.
- Hosting, storage and sign-in providers: the Academy is hosted through OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare infrastructure. Its application uses a database for records and file storage for uploaded documents. Platform providers process information needed to operate, secure and support these services.
- Wix communications services: enrollment/contact details, coursework-notification information and support-email content are sent through the school’s configured Wix notification connections. The Academy’s enrollment-notification payload does not attach uploaded identification files.
- MVA and other authorized recipients: the school uses and reports required participant and completion information for program administration. Records may also be provided when required by law or a valid regulatory or legal request.
- Services you open separately: booking, payment, live exam meetings, linked resources and embedded video providers receive information through their own services. Their privacy notices and settings apply to that processing.
The Academy uses the referral attribution described below for enrollment reporting. This notice does not describe every activity on the separate Drivers Edu website or third-party services; review their notices and settings for their advertising or other tracking practices.
Cookies, browser storage and video
- Student sign-in: a secure, HTTP-only session cookie keeps student access available on the browser. Its configured maximum lifetime is 18 weeks; that cookie lifetime does not determine the length of a course or an enrollment’s access period.
- Course preferences and previews: local browser storage may retain language preferences, preview activity and course-progress information. Enrolled course records are also saved by the Academy where the course uses server-side progress tracking.
- Referral attribution: session storage holds permitted campaign parameters and referring-site categories. On enrollment, those values may be included in the enrollment’s referral record.
- Videos: some coursework includes YouTube privacy-enhanced embeds. Loading or playing third-party media can send technical information to the video provider. Its privacy settings and policy apply.
You can manage or clear cookies and website storage in your browser. Blocking or clearing them may sign you out, remove locally saved previews or preferences, or interrupt course features. Clearing browser storage does not delete information already saved in school records.
The enrollment form does not start your camera or screen sharing. A supervised final requires a separate live identity check and camera session. Ask staff about the meeting platform and any recording arrangements before your appointment; this notice does not promise that every school meeting is unrecorded.
Retention and protection
For DIP, Maryland rules require participant enrollment, participation and completion records to be retained for at least three years from program completion. Other program records are retained under the requirements applicable to those programs. The school also keeps information as needed to provide services, meet applicable obligations, address disputes and investigate security issues. These requirements may limit deletion requests. A retention date in a system is not a promise of automatic deletion on that date.
The Academy uses HTTPS, protected student sessions, staff authorization checks for document access and restricted application storage paths. No website, transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure. Keep your enrollment number and sign-in details private, and contact the school if you believe someone has accessed your information without permission.
Your choices and privacy requests
You may contact info@driversedu.net or 410-764-1133 to request access to, a copy of, correction of or deletion of your information; to withdraw an optional consent; or to ask about other privacy choices, including an applicable objection or opt-out right. State that your request concerns Academy and describe the request. Applicable rights and exceptions depend on your circumstances and the law.
We may need to verify your identity and authority before disclosing or changing records. Do not send a license image or other sensitive document by ordinary email unless staff have first explained an appropriate verification method. Required education records, lawful reporting and necessary service communications may need to continue even if you withdraw an optional consent.
If a request is declined, you may ask for a review by emailing the same address with the subject “Privacy appeal.” Include the earlier request and the reason for your appeal. We will handle requests and appeals within the requirements of applicable law. You may also contact the Maryland Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division.
Children and eligible students
The Academy is intended for people eligible for the offered Maryland driving programs, not children under 13. A child under 13 should not submit an enrollment or personal information through these forms. A parent or guardian who believes a child has supplied information should contact the school so the situation can be reviewed and addressed. Program eligibility and any required parent or guardian involvement are separate from this privacy notice.
Changes and related services
Updates to this policy will be posted here with a revised effective date. If a change requires additional notice or consent under applicable law, the school will address that requirement before applying the change.
For Drivers Edu’s main website, bookings and payments, review the Drivers Edu Privacy Policy and the service you use. For information about our platform providers, see OpenAI, Cloudflare, Wix and Google/YouTube.
