Narration transcript

A Maryland driving record follows the driver, not the vehicle. After a qualifying conviction, the court reports the disposition and the Motor Vehicle Administration records the violation and associated points. As points accumulate, the response becomes more serious. Driver improvement is rehabilitation: understand the behavior, accept responsibility, and prevent the next unsafe decision.

1. Does finishing DIP erase your points?

3. What should you do with an MVA notice?
4. When several convictions arise at the same time and place, how are points assessed?
5. What authorizes driving after a revocation?

Topic 1 of 6

What appears on a Maryland driving record

A Maryland driving record can contain convictions, points, suspensions, revocations, alcohol or drug-related actions and chemical-test refusals. It follows the driver rather than a particular vehicle.

Student direction

Pause and connect this rule to a real driving decision. Identify the unsafe choice, the possible consequence and the safer action you would take next time.
